Kenya trip 2013
I am happy to report to you that God has blessed Gacharu Water Project. We received £400 donation from St. George’s church Barnsley on the 10th December 2012. In June last year, we raised about £700 during the Summer Fayre. St. John’s Church Primary School CoE in Dodworth has given us £101.42 towards our project. St John’s the Evangelist Dodworth has given us £479.39, which is 10% of their income from social activities.
We are planning to go to Kenya last week of May 2013. This time we shall join the Gacharu villagers in Kenya in the construction of a small bridge over a seasonal river that dries up during the dry season and floods over the rainy season. This makes it next to impossible for farmers to get to the market to sell their farm produce. The local government Councillor and the Gacharu Water Project local committee have sent us the cost of building the bridge which comes to a total of approximately £7,000. The government of Kenya will contribute £2,500 towards the project. So far we have raised a total of £1,681.81 which means we still need £2,918.19 for the bridge. We are planning to hold a summer fayre on 11th May 2013 to raise more funds for the construction of the bridge. We appeal for donations to enable us reach the target.

This is expected to culminate the Gacharu Water Project work because the government have a 5 year plan to supply piped water to the whole village. So we are appealing for donations towards this particular cause of building the small bridge.
If you may want to join the team visiting Kenya and participate in the construction of the bridge, please contact Benson on 07919988131 or email: bensonkimaru@yahoo.com. Remember, involvement with the trip to Kenya can be rewarding, for example by providing opportunities for personal development as one gathers their skills through the activities of the charity and at the same time gain new skills, experience, making new friends, going on ‘Safari’, water rafting, just to mention but a few.
